Inquiry-Driven Lessons

CURIOUS Lesson Design.png

The CURIOUS Educator Framework empowers professors to tap into students' curiosity by implementing phenomenon-driven, hands-on lessons aligned with diverse learners' needs.

The framework is being collaboratively developed by a team of science educators and education researchers led by Dr. Vanessa Rosa.

How it works

The framework is structured around 7 key stages:

  1. Connect with an observable, engaging scientific phenomenon

  2. Uncover meaningful questions students have about the phenomenon

  3. Reveal underlying concepts through scaffolded case studies

  4. Integrate fundamentals back to the original phenomenon

  5. Orient knowledge to new contexts

  6. Unify findings through collaborative synthesis

  7. Self-assess growth in understanding
